Winemaker Notes
Our grapes for the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon has grapes that come from one of the best plots in the Maipo Valley – vineyards that benefit from the Mediterranean climate of the Andes Mountains and the Maipo river. The soils are of alluvial origin, sandy loam texture and high in gravel content, with very good drainage. The Syrah comes from the best blocks of Matetic’s El Rosario vineyards in San Rafael district, which adds complexity and a distinctive cool-climate freshness to the wine. The grapes were hand-harvested and underwent pre-fermentation cold maceration for seven days. Each lot of wine was aged separately for 18 months in French oak from different coopers, wood sources and toast levels. The wines were finally blended in order to attain the purest expression of the terroir and the climate, with complexity and good balance.
