This wine is aged for six months in new French and American oak.
The Kautz family has been promoting and working with sustainable viticulture for over 35 years. Crop reduction, leaf removal, organic materials and drip irrigation are used throughout the vineyards to improve the intensity of flavors and overall quality of the wines. Cover crops, which attract beneficial insects, are also employed. In addition, owl boxes and wood duck boxes are placed around the vineyards and ponds to help preserve the surrounding habitats.
Interesting Facts
Born from a love of horses, Leaping Horse is aptly named. The Kautz family have been involved in many generations of riders and are passionate about equine friends and partners. Leaping Horse is all about unpretentious and contemporary wine styles.
Serving Hints
Ideal for hearty soups, grilled red meats, pasta dishes in marinara sauces, barbecued chicken, or simply on its own. A lovely cheese plate to finish, or a rich chocolate dessert is always a great option.
